Session is an end-to-end encrypted messaging app designed to prioritize user privacy and anonymity. It was developed by The Oxen Project under the non-profit Oxen Privacy Tech Foundation. Session does not require phone numbers or email addresses for account creation, using a randomly generated 66-digit alphanumeric identifier instead. The app uses a decentralized network with onion routing, similar to Tor, to protect user metadata and ensure messages leave no digital trail. Session supports features like group chats, voice messages, and file sharing, all encrypted for secure communication.
